Approach: Trained in Existential Psychotherapy at USC, I have adapted my work to include CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy). I have developed my own unique blend of these therapies, along with incorporating creative arts, humor, and storytelling. I have seen hundreds of child, teen, and adult patients struggling with misophonia, and receive calls from across the country and even abroad. I work collaboratively with audiologists nationwide to provide the best treatment possible. I have been involved with all of the Misophonia Association conventions for patients and families and have done presentations for other professionals to inform and educate them about misophonia.

Many of my patients have experienced significant relief: some mild relief, some moderate, some extensive relief. I don’t have any metrics to share at this time.
I truly care about helping patients with misophonia. I have misophonia myself, so I have empathy. I belief relief can be had via a combination of management strategies. True- there is no cure yet. However, management strategies significantly improve quality of life.

Testimonial #1:
I traveled from Nebraska to come here, in an attempt to find a solution for my Misophonia. Daily sounds prevented me from eating dinner with my family, working easily at a job, and caused me to isolate myself because of the physical and emotional pain that came as a result. This place gave me the only solution that's EVER helped and I can actually rejoin my life again! Being able to eat with my husband or things like that, are the irreplaceable moments of quality time that you take for granted, and I won't ever again. Thank you Colorado Tinnitus and Hearing Center, for changing my life.
Testimonial #2
I was distraught for my teenage daughter and her Misophonia. I researched and researched until I came across this place on the internet. There was hope finally. These wonderful people changed our lives by listening to us, and finally giving my daughter a diagnosis of Misophonia. My daughter now has little ear pieces that fit into her ear that play white noise so that my daughter can actually enjoy life again instead of worrying about her triggers. Her triggers were my husbands breathing, babies crying, and many other things. Dr. Patty was awesome and completely worked with us financially, emotionally, and gave us a ton of resources for Misophonia. I can NEVER repay these woman for changing our lives but most importantly for changing my daughters live, where she feels life is worth living again. Shout out to receptionist Amy for calming all my fears about a long drive to Denver and for helping me through this process. Thank you ladies again for changing our world.

Approach: We treat Misophonia with a three phase approach:
Protect the patient from trigger sounds using sound generation.
Reduce or eliminate central gain of trigger sounds.
Rethink the trigger sounds and create new neural networks to reduce or eliminate the negative reactions of the limbic system to trigger sounds
Dr. Land is always searching professional literature for the most current research and information regarding Misophonia, hyperacusis and other sound sensitivities. She is focused on finding the best therapies to help her patients live easier, more engaged lives.
Testimonial #1: It has been hard work and a commitment, but overcoming most of my misophonia has given me my life and hope back. The sound generators, combined with counseling, have given me the tools to cope successfully and function in everyday society without issue. Things that once paralyzed me are now merely background sounds I often don’t notice. Fifteen years of misophonia — I thought I would never be free, and now I am!
Testimonial #2: Two years ago I was extremely limited and handicapped regarding daily activates. I had severe migraines and was diagnosed with severe hyperacusis. I had two hearing tests at other facilities, which were painful, causes excessive anxiety, exhausting, and caused migraines. Dr. Paula Land’s tests were gentle and I felt safe with her. It only took one year and I had my life back completely! During this past year, the 2nd year, I have thoroughly enjoyed my life! She is a blessing from God. She is worth 6 hours of driving!
