EASE: A Flexible Model for Treating Misophonia—Core Principles and Clinical Applications
About the Session
This talk will guide attendees through using the EASE model (External Acceptance and Self-Engagement) as a comprehensive framework for treating misophonia, helping individuals shift from struggling against what cannot be controlled to changing their relationship with their internal experience. Emphasis will be placed on developing internal awareness, increasing willingness, and cultivating flexible engagement in the presence of triggers. As a secondary focus, the presentation will introduce key misophonia subtypes (“styles”) and how they inform treatment pacing and strategy, along with selective integration of approaches such as somatic work and Internal Family Systems (IFS) when clinically useful. Attendees will leave with a clear, structured model and practical tools for implementation.
