Try It, Feel It, Own It: Build Your Sensory Toolkit for Living with Misophonia

In-person

About the Session

Grounded in occupational therapy practice, this experiential workshop invites parents and adults living with misophonia to explore sensory strategies that support nervous system regulation — a critical and often overlooked component of a comprehensive misophonia management plan. Over 20 minutes of guided exploration, participants will move through interactive stations targeting four key sensory modalities: auditory, tactile, vestibular, and proprioceptive. By trying tools firsthand, participants will tune in to their own nervous system responses and begin identifying what feels most supportive — because no two nervous systems are the same. Presenters will then facilitate a 30-minute discussion in which participants will be encouraged to share experiences, ask questions, and learn how to incorporate these modalities into a personalized support plan. Whether attendees are new to sensory strategies or deepening an existing toolkit, they will leave with practical, evidence-informed tools and the confidence to use them.

This session will include Jena Northen, MS, OTR/L, BCN; Lucia Lara, OTR/L; and Jessica Crowder, OTD, OTR/L.
